I say both as I was born Idaho, but live and work in Ut.
Been fishing since I was maybe 2. With the Snake River for a back yard, had no choice.
I am a Fly Fisher. Love everything about it, but it is just my choice, nothing else. I am not an elitist. I do have standards but for myself, not anyone else.

I started tubing about 30 years ago. Started with a Caddis Donut, and then moved up making a couple stupid purchases along the way. I am one to preach, you get what you pay for.
Some of the more memorable tubes are the Caddis, then one of the first SFC. Used that thing to death. Then the Freestyle H3. What a wonderful tube. Even had three of them at one time. So sorry I let them all go now. Then I had Hybrids off the SFC with the Escalade, then the Navigator II. Later I too owned an Escape, but hated it.

Which brought me to Pontoons. First being an Alpine Bucks. Great pontoon, then an 11 1/2' 12" diameter Cardiac Canyon.
The SFC has a unique design and Dave Scadden being the designer has taken his design to new levels.
I know, sounds like I work for him. No, I don't, but I sure like his boats.

I have way more than I need at this time but they all get used and they all have their time and place....LOL

WOW Renegade you have/had some nice gear.

I remember spending summers camping and fishing parts of the Snake river growing up...beautiful country!

I look forward to many reports from your neck of the woods. Thumbs Up

I have been lucky that my passion can make me money...LOL
Today I have for bigger waters a NFO X5 with gas or electric. I have the Assault XX set up with front seat for guest, it too will run on gas or electric. Then I have the Renegade, and more resent, the Assault for quick little hike ins.
My father just moved to Valencia. Any place there to fish?

There are a few nice lakes around the Valencia area. Castaic is the most popular around there.

Here is a link for more info on that lake.

I am not tall or girthy, but I have long legs. To set the Escape up so my knees were not in my chin, I was all the way back in the tube. No room behind me. Not a problem for some I guess, But after all the other tubes, I like that space behind.
Talked of putting a motor on but with the battery back there I felt like I was going to slide out.
This is just my feelings on it. For a couple hundred more and 5 more pounds, I got the Renegade and tons of room.
I have my battery and my dog with me now.

If you are just buying it for a tube and plan on just using the large bags, then that is cool. You do need to slide the bags back as far as you can or you will clip them with the oars.
You could also make a foot bar using chain to push it out farther. All this stuff I did think of AFTER I sold it green happy
