I just got my first set of ABEC 7's in the mail. 99.9% of my fishing is done in salt water. For those of you that use them, do you go with or without the shields?

Here's another question, to oil or not to oil. A lot if guys also run them dry as well.

I ended up putting them in the reel with no shields and a tiny bit of oil. I had placed one drop but that seemed like too much so I cleaned them off and placed less.

Sooo...what's the verdict on the Bocas?

I have them in one of my Sols, without the shields. I have a couple drops of Xtreme Reel in each bearing. I was afraid to run them dry.

I think they make a big difference in comparison to the stock bearings.

Only issue, Xtreme needs to be applied after each trip or two.

I've been going dry lately. A little on the noisy side but they perform great.
