So I got my Colorado xt pontoon and I want to get a trolling set up but not wanting to break the bank. Maybe a 30-40# and a good battery but I don't want a car battery with me. Does anyone have suggestions or where to even start since I am new to the whole set up and world

You can get a used deep cycle battery from Interstate in San Gabriel for like 40 bucks and you can get it with a 90 day warranty. Ive bought used batteries from them before, and theyve been just as good as new. You can get a 30lb thrust minkota for like 100 bucks.

The one I got, figured it was a great deal at $120. The battery meter it came with retails at $15.
Saved me the need (or want) of getting one of those fancy battery boxes with the built in meter...

So i have another question to add to the getting a set up for trolling, i saw on cabelas site has batteries im sure i could pick up a decent one local what would be a good size for like trolling on and off for the day troll some where camp etc. im not looking to use it constant. also like to keep it light if possible, and dont want to spend 200$ for just the battery

I second Casting Calls idea of buying one from Interstate in San Gabriel. I've been buying car bats, boat bats from them for 26 years and they have never let me down.

If you run the motor hard and long days, a #27 is what you need. Get one at Wally World for under $100. Don't need a special charge. Be sure to get a Deep Cycle as you will be running it way down and recharging often. They are big, they are heavy, but they do the job.
I have been using them for about 20+ years. Get about 4 to 5 years of steady use out of them. They are acid filled, so don't tip it over.

You will need to license your pontoon.
