OK so I have this thing with Six Gill out of Texas. Bought two of their rods on a Bongo sale, one I use for Ocean, have 5 yellow tail on the Med. Heavy, and the other for the bays, Med. Light.

So I bought a 2 piece 10'6" rod for irons and surf fishing and a Ironclad 6000 spinning reel to go with the rod.  SPDan wants to surf fish so I'm ready Dan.........

I am very pleased with the purchases so far, good prices, Great Sales now and then, give them a look The Bomb ..........GT[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I'm really better at surf fishing than I am at float tube fishing. lol

My (2) two Van Staals (VS-100-G's) are presently being serviced as I write this to you, when they are returned to me, I will let you know and we'll hit the suds together.

FYI .. I have fished practically every spot from Leo Carrillo State Park (N. end of Malibu) all the way down to Carlsbad for six straight years with Team SWAT on FNN before hooking up with FTFF, I know the areas well.

Of the two SixGill spinning reels I bought, I have used only one so far. It is very smooth and I like it. Problem is, most reels with more than one ball bearing feel great when new but after awhile they can develop a tick or other problems. No way to tell how these will hold up in the long run but so far, so good.
