I would not go out onto the main lake for fear of getting run over by a drunk boater, but with the good crappie fishing this lake can have in the springtime around the brushy shorelines, float tubing seems like it would be very productive. I never hear of any float tubers fishing here.... is it allowed? Can you just drive close to a spot and launch? Anyone know?

You can fish on the tube as long as you stay far away from the primary habitats designed as fisheries, marked heavily by buoys. Wader is not needed for the water. Last water results for contaminants and bacterial/pathogenic levels were below concern, compared to Huntington Beach (sorry guys). So crazy! Fish is quite safe to eat there based on livers' 2010 biopsies done by SAWPA.

Lake Elsinore, or referred as "lake-smell-some-more" by a handful, is a body contactable water. Swimming is allowed in this REC1 water body, so, yes, you can go tubing without wader. However, if you are sensitive to chloride a bit higher than drinker water, say pool water, then it's best to bring your wader with you. The lake does house treated water from the local treatment plants, which attempt to reduce bacterial and pathogenic level to a drinking water standard. Otherwise, go buck wild..and naked(?!) LOL
