This woorks with tube baits such as gitzits, lil tube skirts and even squid imitations for fishin old Briney ,,,

Take any tube style bait, break off a small piece of alka seltzer or any oxy tab and push it clear into the top of the tube head, follow this with some power bait or any smelly stuff or velveeta or what have you and watch the action. Fish it slower than normal. The bubbles give off noise and a sight trail as well as a heavy scent trail from the bait. Team this with a dying twitch and quiver retrieve and prepare to be impressed. Have caght a multitude of different species using this trick. I figured I better pass it on or end up taking it to the grave with me someday.

Interesting tip thanks for sharing, thankfully alka seltzer doesn't make fish explode like it does birds!

Ive heard of it, never tried it. I was under the impression that you were to follow the Alka-Seltzer/stinky goo with cotton or something like it to hold eveything in place.

Wonder if some really nasty conconction, like minced liver and garlic, would add to the appeal?

I've seen this done in the past. The Alkaseltzer acts like a school of bait fish. It works during hours of slow activities. Another method of churning without using fresh/cut baits. Definitely will try this with trouts, using a hollow fly.
