The Classic is in the Louisiana Delta this year. Anyone have any ideas on the winning bait?

I bet the winning technique is Flipping though. A lot of Power Poles will be down for sure.

I'm gonna say its either a beaver looking soft plastic bait, or a Balsa Square bill crank.

Yeah, one of my cousins got a fishing scholarship for Texas.
They are easy to get but they are not much money.

Looks like everyone is flipping some sort of bait. The FOG is crazy out there right now. The top guys are catching and culling already. This looks like its going to be a bass massacre. AAron and Ike are on the biggest fish and racking up pounds like crazy, blowing the rest of the group away.

BASStrack is awesome, and the blog is very informative.

They were in Cali last year in my territory! Too bad I didn't have enough time off or I would have liked to have been one of the marshalls. I'll tell those who haven't done it before, fishing as an AM in the Opens is a cool experience. Yeah, there are the guys who don't know much more than you (and will sometimes ask for info - not with the Elite series - they're not allowed!) but I've gotten to be on the back of the boat with guys like Gary Dobyns, Dave Gliebe, Bink Desaro and a number of other cool sticks and it is a GREAT experience. I even got to win a few dollars as well!

I think they fished the Delta and Clear lake last year. The Elite series started here in the west and went east.

Here are some of the UNOFFICIAL weights anglers have been giving at the ramp.
Hope ur anglers are catching. Looks like really small limits so far.

VanDam update: he actually said 17, possibly more...
Scroggins, 10 pounds (no BASSTrakk info)
Iaconelli, 14.5 pounds (about the same as BT)
Keith Combs, 13 pounds (2 less than BT)
Steve Kennedy, 2.4 (only two fish)
Andy Montgomery, 7 pounds (exactly the same as BT)
John Crews, 12 pounds (2 more than BT)

Bowman, who is at the dock getting these weights, think both Reese and VanDam are lying. They have more than they're letting on.

That's pretty much the first flight of anglers, with a few exceptions. We'll try to grab a few from flight two, but we're getting to the point where we need to pack up and head to the weigh-in.

Here's are estimates we're getting from these guys at the ramp:

Kevin VanDam, 17 pounds (must have had a good afternoon)
Matt Herren, 14 pounds (5 more than he had on BASSTrakk)
Todd Faircloth, 14 pounds (no info on BT)
Kelly Jordon, 14 pounds (6 more than he had on BT)
Paul Elias, 13 pounds (1 more than BT)
Swindle, 10 pounds (1 more than BT)
McClelland, 8 pounds (no info on BT)
Skeet Reese, 15 pounds (no info on BT)
Edwin Evers, 14 pounds (no info on BT)
Bill Lowen, 8 pounds (2 pound LESS than on BT)
Dean Rojas, 3 pounds (2 mor
