My dad used the scales as fertilizer when I was a kid.
If I clean fish at home, ill just put the waste in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer til the night before trash day.

Know what helps with a Stinky trash can? Kitty Litter, throw some in the bag with the carcasses (if you don't get them buried), then tie it off. The smell is significantly less.

Surely you've heard of the ancient North Americans and their practice of tossing a fish in the hole when they planted? This was done during the spring river runs of fish, when there was an abundance on hand.

Throw in a fish
Mound dirt on top
Plant corn in middle of mound
Plant runner beans around corn
Plant squash around mound perimeter.
- Corn grows tall, beans climb corn stalks, squash leaves shade mound to keep soil cool and prevent weeds.

It was referred to as the "Three Sisters" method. Might mention it to you neighbor, tjflyfisher

Great composting for fertilizer.

I use to belong to Turner's rod and reel club and had a guy there after every tuna trip he brought home the fish whole where he filleted them and buried the carcasses in his back yard.

I bury mine at home as well in the garden. No smelly trash can = no wife yelling at you for the smell = win win win

I usually dig the scraps into my flowerbed as well.
Makes good fertilizer, but I do dig a least 12 inches.

Many moons ago I came back with a crap load of cudas and it being a Monday (trash day) it was too late as I got home in the afternoon and the garbage has already been picked up. I threw the remains in the trash and left the bin outside and by Tuesday afternoon, I see my trash bin 2 blocks down from the house. Guess the neighbors had enough of the smell in 100 degrees summer heat. Now I do what Casting Call does. I freeze it and chuck it on trash day in the morning.

Oh and if it's too much, I take it over to Ralph's and dump it in their garbage bins.
