With so many great ultralight fishing rods to choose from, both very expensive and inexpensive, what's your favorite rod? What do you fish with? I'm curious as to what other fishermen use.
I think mine is a Daiwa Spinmatic 401 ULFS. It's a short little rod that works out great while fishing from my float tube where long casts are not needed. Many times I am fishing straight down. I have this rod matched up with a Pflueger President reel and 2 lb test Maxima mono and have used it for a couple of years now. Although this rod is an inexpensive one (under $40), I have caught some very nice bass, catfish and big carp while out fishing for Bluegills and Redears. My non-fishing co- worker recently gave me his new Berkley Trout Dough 5 ft. rod. The bright green color is kind of wild, but it has a cool handle and feels pretty good, so I guess I'll be giving it a try.

When I was a kid a family friend gave me a fly rod that I tried but just was not good with it sat for a few years. I then deciede after looking at the tip section I would turn it into an ultralight rod. I works some magic and there it was my 4' costum ultralight. Also great from my tube and a blast to catch Panfish on. I have had it now for I think 20 years and it still does the job when I need it. Not good for casting but it will do the job. Like I said when I am fish gills I am always use this one, just because it is a blast. All other rod I use are ones that I refurbished either from yard sales or some blanks I got in some deals I struck.

I use an old school 5'6" eagle claw super denko 3 rod. It's old but works great. I pulled a 13lb rainbow from SARL there lol.

My Kencor Magnaglas SPS 5-2LV rod makes a 1 lb fish feel like a TUNA! My reel is the Pflueger President (the old ones with a wooden handle) reel loaded with 2 lb test! One time I did land a 15 3/4 trout with it and almost no drag, that trout was huge and it took me 15 minutes to land. But that is not to say that I do NOT take like ten setups with me when I go fishing. Heck, I recall going on a 3 day fishing trip with my friend Lupe, and together we had over 20 rods and reels setups for a 3 day trip. Tell me that is not crazy!

I have a 4 ft custom wrapped noodle stick paired with a old school Shimano AXUL-S super ultra light reel backed with 2 lb line. I've fished this rod for over 18 or so years and is my go-to rod flicking mini jigs for trout. So much fun especially on 2 lb or greater fish.

last year I found a small spinner at Walmart, Okuma Avenger av15 , comes with chrome and graphite spools, 2-4 lb mono or 6-8 lb nano works perfect. I put it on a Zebco UL pole 5' . The drag is remarkable, caught a 6 lb Drum last summer, on 2 lb mono, and had no problems. This is one of my favorite small reels, and only paid I think about 30$
All Okuma's are pretty good reels, just hard to find. Mostly online or Cabelas sale them.

Okuma products are quality at a lower price. I think half of all my combos are Okuma's.

Not the greatest customer service though, should yeah ever need it.
