Our old Fishing Buddies are starting to lose pixels so it look like a good excuse to shop for new finders. We are starting to use trolling motors so the battery is a given. You guys represent a whole lot more experience so I hope to pick your brains about outfits that fit with tubes and tubing. Like ones that mount the transponder on the trolling motor. Do they work well in the disturbed water? There are probably a lot of problems that I haven't thought of that someone here has had and solved. No big hurry, by the time I act on this we'll be iced up. I'm not good enough to hit a small hole in the ice with a 9' rod and a fly.

Well maybe you should look at our sponsor and partner, Float Tube Fanatics. They produce a fish finder mount for the float tube and pontoon baat. Being that you will have a trolling motor, you could simple get the UP2 set up it has a strap for a mounting plate as well as the transducer. And since you have the battery for the motor you wont need the battery box they make. Just my 2 cents.

Mounting a transducer too your TM will work and a lot of the newer FF comes with mounts for this reason but seeing how your mounting the TM to a toon I would just look at other options for mounting the transducer as I'm sure you will get some type of off reading cause of it and would require for more fine tuning on your FF.
I would pick out a unit first and call the MFG and talk to tec support and see what they say about the mounting, just don't tell them that your mounting it on a toon/tube
