I am sure you will like them. The spoon shape is cool.

Congratz on the new toys and welcome to team green!
I'm think you like them as well and I hope to see a report from you too.

I look forward to it...my fishing will be primarily Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley and several of the smaller lakes in between for primarily panfish.  The tube is supposed to be delivered today - the fins were delivered on Monday.  So, stuff is coming together.

Jerdon - it sounds like you and I are very similar, though I think I've ridden my bike twice!

I'm as green as it gets to tubing, I have the tube, now need to get the fins.  Since this is a hobby I'll pursue throughout my life I don't mind paying for quality.  Do you feel there is an efficiency difference between the Omegas and Force Fins?  Also, have you used the Omegas with wading boots?  It doesn't seem the Omegas have an adjustment like the Force Fins and wonder if there is any loss of fit after doing so.  We have some cold waters here in Maine and I imagine I'll be using my waders frequently, particularly at the beginning and end of the season.

I appreciate the degree of detail in your original post, very helpful!

I've used the Omega's with tennis shoes and soft sole booties,"flats boots", but no hard sole wading boots. I feel the Omegas use more muscle power and energy compared to the Force Fins, but the Omegas feel faster. I have the Extra large Omega's with their comfort instep so I can barefoot it wear a bootie or whatever. The younger fitter guys seem to prefer Omegas. The older veterans seem to prefer the Force Fins.
I don't have a preference still, but if I'm expecting a long day on the water I'll use the FF's.

Omega Fin one year update.

I meant to get this done earlier, but hey, the information is here now. On the October 3rd Fish Finder mount fish off I broke a heel strap on these fins. So the heel strap lasted almost 12 months.

You can see the plastic pin on the lower assymbly gave out allowing the strap to come free.

I ordered a new strap from

as I could not find an exact duplicate anywhere. The lower strap in the photo is the replacement.

I must say the replacement strap seems to be a better quality than the original. After several outings I have noticed no difference so I ordered another one.

I now keep a complete spare strap with hardware on my tube. I have looked at several after market straps since this happened, but I have no real plan to change anything. The spare straps are 9 bucks each so it is not a big cost to have a spare. I will most likely replace these once a year to be on the safe side.

Since I started out comparing these to the Force Fins I will  concede the FF are superior in this area. Twenty years old and the FF straps show no sign of giving up.

I hope this helps.
