I didn't want to hijack flipdogs thread with my mods.
Here is my latest version

From the front inside showing the strap.

From the front. You can also see I put little rubber grommets over the threads of the bolts.

From the side showing the strap and Velcro hanger.

Close up of U Bolt. I just cut off my old holder and U bolted the Rapid Release system on.

Nice! Is the 3rd tube from the back tilted in so the rack doesn't tilt towards you when you're in the water?

Yes, the second tube from the front, that has my pliers, and the third from the back are tipped in to steady the rack. Either side of the starage pocket. The down tube for my fish finder makes three points of contact to keep the whole rig vertical. There is also a strap that goes through the tube my pliers are in that really clamps thing down tight.

My first post, and just wanted to say thanks for posting pictures of your rod holder. I really liked how you used the strap through the holder. I just made mine last night, going to glue it together tonight. I just bought my first float tube, which is a Cumberland. Trying to get it all dialed in for a trip to Mammoth next week! Thanks again, Jim.

Welcome to the FTFF, Jim!

We'd love to see your finished ride and hear how you did in Mammoth!

Welcome to the forum Jim.

I am glad you found this usefull. I can say this rod rack is a bit heavy for walking around, but the weight is un-noticable in the water while fishing. This has served me well for over 3 years and if I do make another rod rack I will try to shave some wieght. I am looking forward to some reports from you in the future.

Hey Jim, Welcome!

We have a lot of DIY men here with quite a few great ideas that actually work!
That's what I like about this site ... a lot of out-of-the-box thinkers that can catch fish!
