The Bomb My tube has foam for the back & seat which is fine for a while but does get old after 3 or 4 hrs. I would like to add additional padding to get me up a little higher & a little softer on the bottom.I was thinking of a floation cushion.Anyone have better ideas I sure would like to hear them
Thanks Dennis

Hey fish bun! Welcome to the forum! I heard of some tubes being able to remove the foam and inserting the inflatable bladder as to upgrade the model but not sure what brands or models can be done. Im guessing the fishcat since the tube itself shapes the same from foam models to inflatable ones? Im sure someone will chime in with a better input! Good luck!

This is what I did to mine. It adds a lot more support. You were looking for a softer bottom. I'm not sure if this will give you that, however, I can say that this solution works great for me. I had a back injury about five years ago. I can fish all day long (and do) without any discomfort.

Cut two boards to the same shape as the foam inserts. Use 1" thick boards and round the corners. Be sure and sand them down nice and smooth. Then you'll need to paint them with a roof sealant that you can find in the hardware store. Put on at least two coats to be sure and seal it up well. Let them dry thoroughly.

Slide them in the slots in the bottom and backrest of your seat along with the foam. Place the boards behind and under the foam. It will make the seat way more comfortable and you'll ride higher out of the water.

Keep your lines tight...and your butt cushioned. Smile

I remove the stiff foam from my cumberland now and then to clean and make sure their's no fungus growing. Having ridden motorcycles, they make gel inserts for various size seats. I would remove the foam from the seat, draw the outline of gel inset and remove some of the foam to fit. I was pondering doing the same to the cumberland. I believe the width and stiffness of the foam seat has to do with the overall design of the tube, so I wouldn't remove it all together. Just a thought..........GT
