Am I the only one that has had this issue and if so what does that say about me LOL. Well, I am sure I am not the only one. My waders took a turn for the worse a few months back and it got to the point I was having trouble being near my own waders.
So instead of purchase a new set of expensive waders I decided to turn to some enzyme killers. So the issue with smelly waders is the normal sweat we produce can get into the fibers fo your waders and then breed and smell something fierce. The idea behind the enzyme killer is it gets in and kills the breeding bacteria which kills the smell. There are a few things I learned from this as well and I wanted to share them with you.
First I ordered Gear Aid Revivex Odor Eliminator, 8 Ounce from Amazon $9 free shipping with amazon prime. Next, I followed the instructions (what a novel idea follow the instructions). So the idea is you mix up water and Gear Aid and soak your waders. The instructions say to mix 10 gallons of water to 4 cap fulls of Gear Aid. I did this but with one small tweak, I made sure it was warm water (the instructions did not say this).
The first soak was the outside of the waders as I figured why not to it all. the second soak was the inside and I made sure that not only did I soak them but I worked the solution into them very well.
Both time after the soak I was sure to hang dry as the instructions pointed out. I will be honest it took to treatments for the inside to be cleaned completely but now my waders smell great.
There where a couple more things that I tried this time around. First I stole a skirt hanger from my wife (Don't tell her ). The clamp on the hander worked great to hand dry my waders outside on the porch. The other thing I am currently trying is using a small squirt bottle of Gear Aid after each outing. So when I get out of the water now I make sure to turn my waders inside out and spray them with the Gear Aid solution and then rinse off the outside when I get home. So far it seems to be working well for me. If you are having a funky issue with your waders or just want a better way to maintain and keep your waders looking and smelling free I recommend the Gear Aid Revivex Odor Eliminator, 8 Ounce. it worked well for me and it can help you.
