Has anyone been to the Salton Sea recently or does anyone have any news regarding whats up down there ? I haven't been in four years. Not since the Salinium level hit 24% and the corvina fishery collapsed. What a tragedy. Heard a rumor recently that a some corvina had been caught. ???

about 6 years ago i was going to go there with a buddy you was telling me that you can walk in the water and just grab a fish but i really did not think i would be comfortable just grabbing a fish with my hands
I never fished there but always wanted to maybe we can get a few guys together and go explore this body of water

Well lemme tell ya!,,
The Salton Sea is one of the most unique, interesting and weird places I have ever been! It's history is almost unbelievable! I highly recommend you read about it's past. Most people don't even know it exists! It is also a story of ecologic tragedy. Did you know that for a long time it was THE MOST PROLIFIC FISHERY IN THE COUNTRY with an estimated fish population per square acre in the hundreds of thousands!!! About four-five years ago it was my favorite place to fish and I would trek 3hours,(one way) sometimes twice a week to fish it.
it was a fly fisherman's wet dream! An inland body of water with big, nasty, toothy, fish that would literally pull a fly rod out of your hands and grew to 30 lbs!!!! (my personal best was 26) There were legends of 40 pounders! AND ALL FROM MY TUBE!! (and later my pontoon). Aahh But its all gone now only tilapia left according to the reports. I was hoping the unusually high rain they have received down there the last two years might have changed things. But I fear not. Alas... But there have been rumours that a few locals have caught corvina and I am ready to take an exploratory trip to check it out. As soon as the weather cooperates and they get some sustained 100+ weather I think i'm down. At very least I can try some of the epic talapia fishing they have been enjoying the last 3 years.

hoping for a miracle, bodfish

PS anybody up for an adventure??
