My wife found this and I wanted to share it with everyone.

How would you handle this type of trauma when you first arrive on scene?
What would you use to stabilize the penetrating object in an area such as the neck?
.
This injury occurred when a needlefish jumped out of the water and pierced the neck of a boat passenger!
.
Luckily this patient was rushed to a hospital, where the fish was removed during emergency surgery.
The patient made a full recovery!
.
Needlefish are adept jumpers, carnivorous in habit, and distinguished by long, slender jaws equipped with sharp teeth. The largest needlefish ever recorded measured about 1.2 m (4 feet) long!
.
Needlefish have a large habitat and can be found in the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The pictures alone tell the story. It's like having a chef knife jump out of the water and stab you in the neck.

Holy crap, I hope to never deal with something like this. That said, cutting off the head of the fish and finding a professional to get busy seems legit.

I’ve had to push hooks thru in order to cut the barb and remove but this is eye opening for certain.
Definitely seek medical help on this type of situation ... immediately!

For the record i have broken my hand on a hookset at 8:00 a.m.  switched over to a spinning setup fished all day until 3 then went to the Dr.  A little fish in the neck unless it hits an artery probably won't stop me. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I also nearly severed my arm at work and was out fishing the same night after having 80+ stitches and a cast put on it. Somewhere i have pictures of me on a tube that night.

Thats the xray of the hand i broke at 8 a.m. setting the hook on a tree without a solid grip on my rod. Spiral fracture. It was a crappie that wrapped me up in a tree. Still got the fish then switched over to a spinning rod kept fishing until 3 p.m. or so. Drove home the urgent care because the swelling got so bad. Not even a dang bass... smh...[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Floatingbassturd,

Maybe we can change your name to "Hardcore Henry".
Stitches keep me out of the water now. I had some get infected from getting in the saltwater when I was younger, I mean like only 5 stitches, and that was enough to get me to wait till they are out.

Nah, i just think I'm not as affected by pain as most. I don't like pain but it really doesn't bother me too much most the time. Besides, you can only stand so much before you go into shock or pass out then you don't remember how bad it hurt.
