I have a West Marine brand manual inflatable PFD in a pouch that you wear on your waist...Good enough?

I dont see why not but I wouldn't wear it when tuben. I would strap it to the tube where is it would be easy to pull off and inflate it if you ever had too.

By manual do you mean pull a rip chord and it inflates....but if thats the case dont those usually go off if they get wet as well? Not sure what type you have but if its the one that activates by touching water wearing it on your waist is not a good idea.

As far as comfort and safety go, i personally think those inflatable pfds are the best.

"dont those usually go off if they get wet as well?"
I don't think that it will deploy if it gets wet
It has a pull cord hanging out the bottom and says that it's manual
Not absolutely positive about this since I've never deployed it yet and hope not to have to find out

After giving it some thought, I'm going to make use of what I have already for now.
I also have some LW orange, nearshore vests that can also be used.
Maybe keep behind my seat if I choose not to wear it at all times.
Thanks

I almost buy one at west marine too. i was explained that it will deploy by itself is the device is under 3 or 4 feet under water (cant remember exactly) or manually by pulling the cord. and you have to buy the little CO2 tank every time its deployed.
