I have a West Marine brand manual inflatable PFD in a pouch that you wear on your waist...Good enough?

I almost buy one at west marine too. i was explained that it will deploy by itself is the device is under 3 or 4 feet under water (cant remember exactly) or manually by pulling the cord. and you have to buy the little CO2 tank every time its deployed.IN2DEEP wrote:"dont those usually go off if they get wet as well?"
I don't think that it will deploy if it gets wet
It has a pull cord hanging out the bottom and says that it's manual
Not absolutely positive about this since I've never deployed it yet and hope not to have to find out
After giving it some thought, I'm going to make use of what I have already for now.
I also have some LW orange, nearshore vests that can also be used.
Maybe keep behind my seat if I choose not to wear it at all times.
