Hi all! New to the forum-not fishing/tubing, just been a few years! Looks like a great place!
A bit about me;
Been fishing S.D. fresh for many years’ mainly El Cap, Murray, Morena etc. I broke out my tube from the mothball fleet this week anticipating some upcoming fun, exercise and a battle or two!
I also fish a Mod. V Jon as well (the Doc. says get out of the boat and exercise!)
I wish to hit the salt in Mission Bay and the harbor but have a few questions before I jump in.
The first is safety, what does the C.G. require equipment wise and your suggestions on top of said requirements.
Second , are suggestions for launching and areas to fish, assuming I would be targeting mainly Bass and Halibut.
I am not looking for secret spots or techniques just general knowledge.
Hope to see you on the water,
Phil.
P.S. As I am typing this I am awaiting the arrival of my newest fishing bud(my first Grandson who was due yesterday!)

welcome to the forum and congrats on the new fishing buddy. A few years off but I am sure he will fight right in when the time comes. As for you question on safety, CG you need a PFD, a whistle and a good par of eyes to watch out for boaters not watching for you.
I have not fished SD so I will leave the launch questions to the other members.
Again glad you found us and we look forward to your first report. afro

Thanks guy's,
The little one arrived early yesterday and is a cute little guy! I hope to get out in a week or two. Gotta devote some serious time and effort to the little guy, my daughter and son-in law.
Got some new wading boots coming as the old one were not the best and falling apart. I will probably get a few sessions in some calm fresh water first to ease back into it. Had my knees replaced in May and I don't want to put myself in a scary situation.
I would still like some generic info on a good place to launch and target in SD bay and Mission Bay as well. I was thinking Shelter Island or Coronado under the Bay Bridge?
Into the Jungle I will go!
