So some of you saw I am pouring my own swimbaits and I am looking for what you guys use for swimbait hooks. I normally use round jig head style hooks, but that would be for the Big Hammer style baits. My baits have a rounded head so the ball jig I feel is not right would work but is not right. I am looking for a sled type weight. So what is the boards suggestions on this topic.

Cool thanks I am looking at the second set up with the weight attached to the hook shaft. And I was wondering what you guys thought of the screw lock, I have used them before and not really like them but this bait may work better with them. Thanks wiseguy.

I like the screw lock, it's a little difficult setting it up nicely, but it work good and keeps the bait in place. Many time I've had short bites and the bait is all jacked up and almost ripped off the hook, not with this type of hook anymore!

I noticed that they have a screw lock that has a centering pin in it. A small pin that runs the middle of the screw, does anyone have experience with these type.

If there are certain instances where you want to use a regular lead head you could always take some scissors and cut off a small piece of your lure to make it flat so it matches with your lead head a little better.

I have found some of those springs suck that come with the hooks so I buy them with out the springs and just add heavier springs to them.
I dont have much luck using them for spotties around here as I usually fish deeper and there is not much weight to them. I do use them on larger baits fishing the kelp or for fresh water

Owner makes those Jeff. They work great for me working swimbaits through the eel grass and larger swimbaits through the kelp.

You can use the big EWG weighted hooks. You do not want to pull all that lead through the nose of the bait. Poke a hole in the nose using the hook point and then put the eye of the hook in backwards through the hole from the under side.
