I was wondering how much stuff the different float tubes hold, it would be a comparison between tubes for our equipment lurkers. I bought a Cumberland tube really based on reviews from this site. The two pockets on either side hold plenty and the storage area behind the seat is huge.
How about the Caddis, Outcast, or Prowler guys. How much can you fit?

As an example,
I have a Plano 3700 and 3600 box in each pocket. I have my worms and worm hooks and rigs in a 3600  box. Underneath is a 3700 box that hold my crank baits and heavy plastic jigs on one side. On the other side I have a 3600  size box with panfish jigs and lures on top of a 3700 box that has my top water lures.
I keep my life jacket and lunch box in the storage area behind the seat.

They truly do hold a ton of gear. The only downside is the more you bring = the more you have to kick around with. I've loaded my tube pretty good and I've also tubed with only one rod and a handful of baits. It makes a huge difference. Although, most of the time I still can't help myself and still end up bringing everything including the kitchen sink LOL.

My ODc 420 holds a lot just like the cumberland, but the pockets are better on the Cumberland , meaning they open better. I need to post a picture of my tackle box system for you guys to see. I got my whole set up at Hobby Lobby and it is a great idea for orginizing your tackle and taking everything with you to the waters edge. I think you guys will like it, but back to the storage question, the newer tubes have improved a lot on the storage issue.

Caddis pro 2000 doesn't hold as much as my ODC420. Smaller pockets and I don't like how the back area is netted (unlike the 420)...I was going to put a small crate in the back just like I have with the ODC, but since the net sits in the water, I just opted to use a litter box as my stowage. I try to pack light, but as previously stated...i'd take the bathroom sink too if I had a place to put it  Red Smile

The Cumberland has netting behind the seat so I use my life vest as a splash guard.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I put my lunch box or what ever on top of the vest.

Cumberland does seem like it holds a lot. Still don't travel with a lot.

Yea Jeff, kin lets see some pics, I would love to see what other guys are doing, and it gives the lurker types a chance to compare and contrast the tubes.

On the left pocket of my Cumberland I usually put quick access stuff like hot sauce, gloves, beanie, sun glasses, phone, and sometimes even a cheeseburger or two. On the right pocket I fill it up with plano boxes. In the pouch behind the backrest I put my gameclip which also stiffens up the backrest for a little more support. In the mesh area behind the seat I'll sometimes put a 5 gallon bucket when I think I might take off my sweater during the trip.

Here's a pic of my rod rack with the tools that permanently stay on there. I have modified it since then to accommodate a collapsible gaff that stays out of the way thanks to FATBOY

Lolly,
About the knife sheath, what is it made of and how did you get that angle?

I have a outcast super fat cat and can fit a lot but I always go light, 2 rods baits that I want to concentrate on and plenty of snacks and water.

I've developed a thing for bass and panfish on the fly rod.
This means my gear needs are pretty minimal.

• One rod/reel with floating line
• One rod/reel with sinking line
• a couple of Plano boxes for flies and stuff
The usual kit: pump, lunch, water, tools , etc.

The sheath came with the knife when I bought. I just taped it down to the rod rack.

Firs off, Prowler is Outcast Very Happy  I fly fish as well so take at least 3 rods out (floating, Type III, Type VII). And usually 3 or 4 4" X 7" fly boxes. Knife, Hemostats, pliers, clippers and line accessories fit in one side bag. Rain coat, gloves, towel, munchies in other bag.
I always traveled with the rods not in use in the back section of the SFC. Now, if the Freestyle H3 was available again!!!! That had room.

BTW do you just drop your spare rods in the back section, as in no rod holder?

NICE although not sure that is current, I am betting it isn't.

Yes, I set the reel portion behind the seat so the rod is sticking out the back. Yes there is a little water back there, but not enough to cause damage.

Renegade that's genius,
I've always seen the fancy holders and thought how I can build one.
It never occurred to me to just set it down. Two of my favorite rules, "If it works, don't fix it" and "Everything should be done as simply as possible, but no simpler"

I've fit one 3600 box and a couple of the smaller ones on the left pocket of my Fish Cat 4. On the right pocket I have my IPhone, head light, gloves, beanie, snacks and whatever personal belongings. I have a bucket in the back that serves as a backrest as well since the FC4 foam backrest tend to sag a lil after a long session. I'll have to retighten the straps but with the bucket, it makes it more firm. Plus I put whatever I don't want getting wet inside the bucket. It also helps on carrying everything to the launch site and I sort things out once i'm there.

What I'd like to know is will the FishCat and others fit two 3700 size boxes in one pocket, or are the Cumberland's pockets bigger? On the other hand, I am finding out I am a bit "PIGGY" when loading mine.    The Bomb

I don't think the 3700 will fit into the FC4 pockets. I don't have one and the 3600 that I do have fits rather snug. Anybody else here have one and have definite knowledge on this?
