I hit the LBC early this morning and was able to find a nice rockfish. I think its a greenling rock fish? I was fishing a fools bait hawg seeker in watermelon seed.

I had another huge halibut pick up the bait and head right under the rock. I tried loosening my drag then tightening up the drag to try to turn the head around to get it out. No luck, the friction caused my 12lb mono to snap. Oh well. That fish really wanted the watermelon seed bait!

Grass rockfish. Greenling have a similiar body shape to spotties (small head, long body) not really common down here in socal. Grass bass are a blast to catch since they are so aggressive and eager to eat anything!

What kin said. We do have grass bass down here, and if you work at it you can find them. lol but you'll likely catch a couple dozen bass before getting into a few grass bass.

If you want rockfish from the tube try Ventura or Channel Island. I warn you though, Channel Island HP doesn't usually see tubers so they may kick you out, like me Rolling Eyes .
