NPH session 8/23/14

Today was by far the most epic day of spottie fishing I've ever had at NPH.  And, the fact that I was being a lazy angler for most of the day says a lot.  

My total: 7 spotties at 10", 10", 12", 12", 14", 16", 17"
2 Calicos with the larger model being 10"

My buddy caught several Spotties, a Sculpin, and Turbot which fought exceptionally hard.

16" spottie!  This dang fish punctured the left bladder of my cumberland!  Fortunately my buddy had his pump with him.  While it was a little tedious to pump the bladder back every 30min it sure beat going home early.

PB 17"!!!  It didn't fight as hard as it could since it was so skinny.  This guy slammed a crankbait in some super skinny water.

Thanks! Honestly, the spotties from the LAB fight harder since they're chunkier. NPH spots are lean.

Do it! They're biting! Finesse rigs were getting the numbers, but the reaction baits were getting me the quality fish.

Hey If2l, i actually was there that morning too....talked to your buddy in the orange tube...i was coming out of that dock cove when u and ur buddy were coming in....very cool.....

Thanks! I realized that it was you after the first pass you made on us. When we saw you again I tried asking if you used the tube forum. The sound of boats kinda blurred my voice out. Sucks. lol I thought you only fished on Wednesdays.

You can pretty much launch anywhere where there is sand. The tough part is finding parking around NPH.

I like to launch off of Balboa Island. I might be going Friday morning if you want to meet up.

I'll go on a parking recon mission this weekend

I'll have to see. We are planning to fish on Friday, but some things are probably going to keep me from doing so.
