After hearing about so many large Alabama Spotted Bass being caught, and just today seeing the video of 8 and 11 pounders being caught on the "Stoked on Fishing" show from an unnamed lake, I want to head up to Northern California. Years ago we had a really fantastic fishery at Lake Perris, with spots up to 8 pounds. It even produced a World Record Spotted Bass of over 9 pounds. Does anyone have any info on which Central and Northern California lake(s) are best?

Top 5 in California for a giant Spotted bass  :

1 . New Bullards Bar Reservoir  -- world record holder
2.  Whiskeytown Lake --  (this maybe where the next record comes from)
3.  New Melones Lake
4.  Shasta Lake
5.  Lake McClure

Not sure is any of these lakes allow float tubing , but if your looking for a big one then these are the places to go , they all rent boats i know for sure .
