Kids Fishing Clinic and Catfish Derby

OK boys and girls it is time to start looking for volunteers for this years Kids Clinic and Catfish Derby. This will be held June 18th at Clark Park in Buena Park on Rosecrans like last year. We are looking for at least 10 volunteers to bait hooks tie knots and untangle fishing line LOL. Last year we had a total of 480 people come through, and this year we are expecting that and more.
We will also be looking for companies that might be willing to donate prizes, products or financial donate to the cause. For a financial donation we can place there logo on our Banner which will be hung at this event and more. Any and all help on this these matters and the event are appropriated. Still looking for volunteers, to help teach kids how to fish. OC Parks has granted about $1000 to the event for prize and other expenses. We could use your help sign up here guys June 18th 6am Clark Park.

The event will start at 7 am and run till noon with 4 sessions of fishing and for separate prize giveaways. We will need about 20 volunteers to be on the water’s edge, to make sure those that catch move out to allow the next few kids in. The younger kids will be allowed one parent with them when fishing. The edge of the lake will be barricaded and the only people allowed in are the volunteers and the kids fishing with a parent age appropriate.

Each session will be timed and when the session is over those kids will step aside and go to see who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The next group of kids will be brought in to fish and this will go on for a total of 4 sessions. It is a 2 fish limit, but only 1 fish allowed (caught or kept) per session. So if they complete the first session the can sign up again for the 2nd or 3rd session.

Our Booth will be the casting booth where we will be practicing casting on the grass, as well as discussing our forum and other events. There will be another booth that will be (I hope a local tackle shop) that will be tying and baiting hooks. There will be fishing related games being played to teach kids about fishing that will be run by the City of La Habra as well.
