Last weekend I got out with one of my old mates, it's not often I get granted a fishing pass on a weekend so made the most of it and got up into the dales, fantastic days fishing with a good few fish sprinkled in and amongst the great scenery and the company of a good mate. His blog encounter of the day is here should anyone be interested

I'll hopefully have a tubing related report the week after next

I love getting up into the dales for the day even if it's just for a walk without a rod in hand, it's so tranquil, fields filled with sheep penned inside dry stone walls and stone barns scattered around.

I'm not sure what the equivalent would be for you guys? To be quite honest geography was never my strong point at school so I'm a bit blind to where you guys are and what's surrounding you

Many parts of the U.S. match the geography you describe. In central and eastern New Mexico, where I first learned to Fly Fish, the rivers are very similar to your description. The Dale looks remarkably like rivers I fished in Washington State. Except there were mountains all around with snow capped peaks.

That's a well written and entertaining blog by your mate. A great day of fishing. I was a guide for years and I have always had a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors. I can clearly see that you possess that same love and appreciation.

I enjoy your reports and pics. Keep em coming mate!
