I got out on the lake this morning. I launched near the boat ramp while the rangers were holding up the boats.
Water Temp: 71 degrees
Air Temp: 50 to 75
Time In: 7:00 AM
Time Out: 12:35 AM
Reaction Bait 15#: Various Swim Jigs / White Spinner Bait
Reaction Bait 10# : Big Hammer 3 1/2 / underspins/ tube baits
Drop Shot 6#: Various
Split Shot 6#: Weightless Texas
It was completely fogged in with a fog warning. I figured I could slide by while they were making the boats wait. The ranger caught me at the waters edge, inspected my tube for quagga muscle, told me I could fish near shore but not to go out further until the fog warning was over. The water is cooler now and the weeds are coming apart. My 8 pound test was cutting it up. I through top waters for nothing. I worked jigs and worms through the weeds chasing and searching. The fog turned to overcast and I still had nothing. The sun started peaking through around noon and I thought I would go home with the dreaded skunk and pieces of weeds all over my tube. I decided to toss the spinnerbait on the way back and finally found my one and only fish.
