I also hope to enjoy many (on the edge of my seat) fish reports ... from your edge of the woods pond in Texas.

I worn Force Fins since I've started floating, I bought them on eBay for $81, (new is around $230.00).
They work fine for me without any issues.

SP Dan     <"))><

See ya on the forum! Thumbs Up Tight lines!

Well...I haven't tried the " new" fins.

I don't give much credence to private small water fisheries. I discredit them for the simple reason of restriction. I know of TOO many places here in Texas where catching a 10+ pound bass is a given...(provided you know which way to turn the reel handle.)

I don't think private and public waters should be considered an equal playing field.

BTW: Rereading your post, I realize "your pond" really means " your neck of the woods!" However, Ima gonna let me post stands, bekauze it's pertainant! ( I like that word!!! Jest found er!)

Hi ya Soggy Bottom,

I'm  looking forward to hooking up with you this coming weekend.
After your visit, you should be ready to begin your float tube adventures in Az.

We will go thru all the gear (the dos and the don't s) and we'll get in a good AM session as well.  Thumbs Up

Hey fellas...I made the trip to L.A. and met up with SP Dan. Had a great day of fishing. I learned so much from him. Caught 2 spotted bass. Glad I took him up on his offer regarding the equipment. His vast knowledge of the sport combined with the gear I bought left me feeling I hit the jackpot pot. Thanks for showing me the ropes and all the great advice SP Dan. I appreciate it more than you know. Anytime you can make it out to AZ, hit me up. We have some great lakes out here. It would be great to go fish again. Thank you!

Great Avatar Soggy Bottom!

I especially like the snow capped mountains in your background.

It was great to finally hook up with you and I look forward to many float tube fishing reports
from you.
Who knows ... you may have some honey holes in your own back yard.

When I make it out to AZ., I'll definitely give you a shout-out for a hook up.
I never pass a chance to fish!

And please don't forget .... you are always welcomed to come back for another session.
Perhaps I'll be able to introduce you to a few of the fellow FTFF members on your next time thru, or maybe FTFF could  plan a friendly gathering for us tubers.
The possibilities ........

Tight lines ....

WTG SP Dan and Soggy bottom. You got out fishing and shared time and knowledge on the water due to this great forum. That's what it's all about!

SP Dan wrote: How is the float tube fishing going in Arizona?

Hey there SP Dan! It has been a while since I logged on here. Fishing in Az? I fish every Friday up at a lake called Saguaro Lake. I fish a Cove that is about a hundred yards wide and about a quarter mile long. There is a channel about 35 to 50 feet deep. The lunkers swim through there. I am getting a lot of rod action out of there; hauling them in is a bit tricky.

I typically use a texas-style rig with a robo worm on there or I'll use Crawlers when I'm going real deep. Chartreuse seems to be the color that they're going after so I stick with that. I'm learning you have to be real patient when Lake fishing you don't get the type of action like you do when you're throwing Hooks in saltwater; its a different type of Arena altogether.

So basically to answer your question fishing is good not pulling in as many as I hoped I would none the less my worst day of fishing is better than my best day of work. HA! I find myself often looking forward to Friday with hopes of bringing in a six pound bass, that's what I'm fishing for.

I met another fellow floattuber at my job apparently he's quite devoted to the hobby as well. I've had the fortunate moment of sharing with him about our Forum here. I will be inviting him soon. Note to self... I need his email address.

I have a few pictures that I would like to upload here but honestly, I am finding it difficult to share pictures with you guys of the striper bass I've caught up here in The Lakes... maybe you can give me a pointer on how to upload a photo?

Let me know when you have time to fish again....I will gladly roll out there. Maybe we could fish a lake halfway?

Good to see you here again, Soggy!

It's interesting to me what you say about chartreuse because I've recently read several different fishing sources referring to it as their best performing color overall.

Just out of curiosity I started looking into the whole deal and it's fascinating. Short answer - because the sun radiates strongest in the yellow part of the spectrum, virtually all animals see yellow best, especially in low light situations.

In point of fact, in humans, it's yellow-green that averages the highest visibility when they do the actual testing, so it makes a lot of sense that chartreuse would be a good performing color overall for fishing.

Now if I could only use all this knowledge to actually catch a fish!

See and I read somewhere that they see red the best and they don't see purple very well. Chartreuse works in Saguaro because it's a clear water lake.

I also read somewhere that purple and chartreuse and any combination (morning dawn w/ chartreuse roboworms hint hint) work well at a lot of clear lakes....Pleasant, Canyon and Apache included. Roosevelt and Bartlett are usually dirtier so you can get away with darker colors.

I found that natural looking colors work best at all lakes....green pumpkin anything works so does watermelon and orange crusher (roboworms) too since it looks a lot like a natural nightcrawler.

Yeah, that's the funny thing about chartreuse, nothing they eat comes in that color but it still works!

Hi Guys, I know this is an older threat but I figured I would tag on since a number of people are in my area.  Also new here! Wink

Well I hope people are still here?  I just moved out here from the midwest and would like to get out on the water.  Last summer I picked up a float at Costco.  Classic Accessories Wilderness?  Anyway I am down in Maricopa and it would be great to meet up with and get some pointers.
