Hi guys! Sorry I've been away. I've had some bad luck, but hopefully it's behind me.

I did just run across what I think is some very interesting information about the future of fishing in Long Beach.

I'll let you read the article for yourself, but I'm all for any plan that adds more fish habitat!

One of the tidbits I ran across a few years back is that the Long Beach breakwater is among the deepest in the world. Truly massive amounts of rock and removing any amount of it will be no small task.

You can make boating navigation comments now, but general public comments on the whole idea will be solicited early next year.

A very interesting read indeed ... thank you Bob.
I hope that you will follow up on this and post up anything new about their future plans, for all of us to read.

I did not read the entire article.
I have been hearing about removing some of the breackwall to improve water flow since the 70"s. Nobody wants to pay for it. I can tell you this, I have surfers in my family going back to the 40's and 50's. Cherry Beach was a good surf spot before the breackwater went in. Cherry Street to Seal Beach Peir was more desireable than Huntington for surfing before the breakwater went in. The waves clean and move/disperse the pollution. None of that in 50 years in the harbour.

The law of unintended consequences.
