I fished Bernascone Beach today to see whats up. I could not find fish in the 20 to 30 foot range and I saw only one little bass caught that deep. I moved into  15 feet or so and fished the submerged shrubs and drowning treeline and got hit pretty soon, but I farmed it. I downsized and got lots of taps so I went smaller. The underspin wins the day with 4 little bass and I landed 1 more dragging the Roboworm Hologram Shad weightless through the dense stuff.

All the bass were small like this little guy. I could see bigger fish on my moniter I just couldn't find one to bite.

Thanks for the report Jerdon I have a question on the 18th do we need to get inspected before we entry. If so do they do it there or do we need to go to the main gate firat.

Great to see that you were able to finally get a few to cooperate. That's determination!

Bernasconi  has a self serve kiosk.
The rangers will likely not be around after they unlock the gate. So chances are no. However the rangers can check whenever they wish and they may hang around in the morning nearby. Just bring your tube clean and dry and no worries.

If you want to be super careful you can pay for your entry at the main gate and get inspected there. Plus the main ate opens at 6am.

Technically there is no launching of any water craft at Bernasconi because there is nobody there to inspect or check you in after an inspection. They have just never enforced it or even posted it.

Earlier this year after reopening there was a new young Ranger that was enforcing it. I've seen him turn people away that were waiting for the gate to open because they had their yak or tubes visible. My buddy had seen him kick people out that were getting there tubes ready in the parking lot yet said nothing to him as he was packing his tube up.

Then you get other Rangers that do nothing. If you are having a meet you might think about doing it at Sailcove. They were trying to enforce the handicap parking only on the shore but seem to have given up on that too.

I've been turned away at Bernasconi a couple years ago. I was there early waiting for the ranger to open the gate. He told me I had to drive around back to the other side, to the main gate, get my tube inspected, then I could come back to the Bernasconi area to put in my 'tube! Took almost another hour to do this! Those of you with open truck beds, don't get there early, or a ranger may see your float tubes and send you clear back to the other side of the lake!

Ok so i think i will be at the main gate at 6am for inspection the. Head to Bernasconi. Good advice if you have an open truck make don't be there at the gate opening. We are talking a meet up at 7 am so this should give us all time to either get inspected or avoid the ranger at the gate.
