I would like anyone everyone to share their biggest fin buying mistakes here. I hope this will help people new to the sport.

My biggest mistake by far is buying fins that fit my foot comfortably but do not fit over my wader and shoe choices. I would have summer fins and winter fins.

Then one day I made a trade for a set of extra large Omega Fins. I was worried they may be too big. However, I discovered that the fins fit over my sneakers just fine. No longer did I need to wear a sandal or shoe from the truck to the water and then take the shoe off to put on my fins. I could just fit the shoe inside of the fins, quite the time saver at the waters edge.

I have three pairs of Force Fins. What I am saying is buy the biggest size you dare first.

Buying fins and not looking at how the strap around your foot. I had a pair that I had to pull on the rubber strap, they worked great for a few years. Later the straps began to crack and very soon after broke while getting in the water. That made for a short outing.
