Garcia Mitchell Reels

Hey Guys,
Just wanna know if anyone else has some in depth experience with the old Garcia Mitchell reels.
I have a 308 that is in great condition that I use, I’d like to put it on a Conolon Rod. But it’s on my Kencor.
I also just recently picked up a G Mitchell 300 at a thrift store for $5.
Now I know these reels are tanks and built to last.
My question is which reel would be better for lures and which for bait?
Are they both too high speed for bait and would both be better served as a lure reel?

In the past I have used both reels for sit and wait style bait fishing. Honestly those Mitchel have a slow gear ratio compared to most of the newer reels.

Ya I just thought I’d ask. I get a lot of conflicting things both pros and cons.
But the one thing everyone says is...they are tanks!
Will last a lifetime!
