Daiwa Maintenance

My thumb bar was sticking on my Daiwa Alphas 103.  Last cleaned a year ago.
Have been using the past year tubing the salt in LA Harbor
Rinse after each session, lube spool bearings when needed.
Holy crap.
Thing is, it was casting and free spoiling great.
Just gotta break it open on a regular basis and probably not rinse as aggressively as water got in thru clutch bar

Wow that is a mess so glad you can handle it. I clean my reels but I need to do it more often for sure.

Those older diawas are known to hold onto grime inside. I have several 150h and the old coastals... what helped me the most was applying a liberal amount of grease all around the insides and they held up better to my abuse.

Fished this reel regularly in the surf since 2005.
Greased inside, worm gear, all bearing except 2 spool bearings
Float tubing in the salt the past year is a whole new level of abuse.
Still impressed with these old japan made daiwa and shimano bait casters. 15 year old Daiwa Sol and Greenie curado 100b still going strong

I’m close to Barrette lake these days. (it’s just 52-mi south of me in Ramona). How far will you be traveling?

Dude its 151 miles from Torrance
Can fish main lake  or use drill paddle, trolling motor to get deep into one of the arms (1-2 miles one way)

I just drove over there yesterday to check it out and the gate was closed.
It was saying that you had to have a reservation and that you had to be escorted-in at a certain hour.
