Cool Anchor Idea

Ok this is not my idea but I saw it and thought I need to share this with you. This is a cheap way to have a good way to mind you anchor line. It's a retractable dog leash. The guys says when the spring inside rusts just toss it and purchase a new one for under $10. What do you guys think.

Cool idea,
I just don't like using a standard anchor...they get stuck and most people don't rig it for easy un-sticking (2nd line or a breakaway on the upper ring).

I normally like a 1 or 2# rock cod lead, or an old plastic dumbbell...something that doesn't get stuck in anything and if it does, I don't mind cutting the anchor line (I have had to, in a large swell for a kayak).

I generally figure if I'm dragging a 2# rock cod weight I probably don't want to be out in a float tube...not to say that I haven't caught fish while dragging two coffee can anchors attached to a skiff at Crowley but...

Most of the time I don't have more than about 10ft of anchor line out but using a dog reel is a great idea.

I use a 3lb dumbell also tied to a nylon rope. why not the wife never used the weight anyway
