I smell a competition in the near future....
Here's the way i see it: spotted bay bass are structure orientated, ambush predators. Throe some live bait out there and you better hope that it lands A) Near a spotted bay bass B)Near a bunch of structure that the spotty can get to without exposong himself to other predators.
By the time you've rigged your bait and casted it out, ive already fan casted a whole area and either A)Caught fish and know they're in the area B) Didnt catch one but got bit and know that although in the area i must change color, bait or presantation to tempt the fish enough for a hook up. C) Didnt get bit at all and know that the fish either arent in that spot or are in a negative feeding mode....meaning move to a new spot it if you are desperate for a fish break out a reaction bait......spinnerbaitshould work here.
Oh and by the way while this all went through my head you either:
A) Caughy a fish....good for you B) Caught a lizardfish C) Lost your bait on the cast D) Need to bring your bait in and recast because it didnt land in the right spot or E) Already killed a bunch of bait through casting it over and over and now really wish you spent the money on something more important....like the soft plastics Massfisher is using to slay the spotted kind.
Ill say one thing though....i wrote this all thinking abouy spotted bay bass. If you want halibut feed 'em some live bait!!
