Where To Get Some Lanyards?

Where to pick up some inexpensive ones?

...Or, should I make my own quality ones with corrosion resistant hardware?

I have a buddy who makes them out of an old telephone chord, zip ties, and cheap carribiners.

Dive shops usually have an assortment of lanyards.

Wally World. Auto section at key booth. Cheap key chain lanyards. Come in different colors. Less than $2 each. Attach end to end if you need longer. Remove key ring if you are worried about corrosion. Form loop use zip tie. Add carabiner or velcro loop etc. Or just replace whole thing as needed cuz they are cheap enough.

I got a bunch from the casinos when you sign up for their players cards. They work great.

Actually now that I think about it this is a great idea if you have the phone cords you need. I like this better than what I was doing before.

Great Idea guys I did not even think of this. I have been using name badge pull cords, these will last longer

Not really. Just going to try them out and replace the ones I am using now. Nothing wrong with extras.

what are you using them on?
I have thought about making some but the only thing I can think of using them on is my net only. I cant see my rods falling out of the holder IMO.

Its great idea but for myself I am not sure what I would use them on

All my loose hand held items. Pliers, net, camera, lip grippers and rods not it use. My concern is if I go in the water unexpectedly, I don't want to loose gear. The rod situation I am still getting a feel for it and see if I can tolerate it.

That's a good idea but what do you mean about tolerating the rod situation? Is the lanyard connected to the rod your casting?

Yea plus he bought all the stuff at a dollar store...pretty cheap way of protecting your gear.

My net came with a bungee chord that clips to the tube...and my camera has a floating wrist lanyard thingy so i dont have to worry about that.

I really need to make some "dummy chords" for my rods and come up with a way to make my gopro float or at least a quicker easier way to "dummy chord" it.

Ya I had a big halibut almost pull the rod out of my hand one time. Also I had a big bat ray take my line when I was trolling last spring and almost took the pole out of the holder but I grabbed just in time. I've seen yakers with lanyards on the pole they are fishing and I liked the idea. You just never know when you might loose your grip or have an accident. A little insurance just seems to make sense. Hey when you get old you start to think that way.
