Well I've been itching to get out into some ponds since I got this tube. Its been about 20 years since I been in any of them and wasn't sure which to hit. I checked around and narrowed it down to a couple. Made the right choice this morn. I knew it was gonna be a hike in, so I whipped up some make shift backpack straps to help with the walk. I stopped off at the bait shop grabbed a couple bags of Senkos, and a dozen shiners. Mad my way to the pond to find that the hike was bit father than I thought since the launch spots were all choked up with tules. Lucky I found a tiny opening not to far away and made my way out into the completely tule covered pond. The plan was to fish the shiners on a bobber along the tules edge, but I forgot them in the car. I fly lined them instead getting bit instantly. not the right kind, but a great big Crappie. they continued to bite steady eating all of my bait..Only managed one tiny bass and 7 crappie on my dozen shiners, with a few missed bites. the crappie were all huge and pulled pretty good. I switched over the wacky rigged pumpkin senko. gave it a flip right next to the tules. Let it sink and popped it off the bottom to get crushed. I missed the bite and the next two that followed. AAARRRGGGG. I keep at the flipping and see the line twitch set the hook fish on. finally a good bass pulling drag. yes yes. I then see the tules moving a bit. I pitch to them let the bait sink a second feel tick tick on the line and set into the fish. it instantly ran right at me deep and pulling off drag. the fish spun me completly around and ran back to take cover in the tules. I knew she was a big one. I had to thumb the the spool to slow it from getting me in the tules and kick away from them. We fought back and forth till she tired and I lipped the beast. boooya. Big old fat girl. I didn't have my scale but I would say over ten lbs. Had few more pigs weight to be guessed. had a steady pick of fish doing the same thing along the tules. stopped counting at ten.all but three were good sized fish. The wind picked up and it was a loooong kick back. I ended up getting another bite just as I got back using my last senko.. ended up using two bags of senkos and a dozen shiners. Wish you could bet more than two or three fish on a senko if your lucky.....My ithch was scratched and had a great time out there. The walk back seemed like it was about triple the distance. funny how that works..
