Hey friends..
Just wondering... does anyone here do cabinet work?
My wife has already been looking for some help, but I thought I'd throw it out here also.

We have kitchen cabinets that have this white laminate that is peeling off in areas. They all need to be stripped, and the cabinets need to be either re-laminated or refinished somehow? I'm not sure what wood or material the cabinets are made of. I also have some other stuff, like minor electrical, wire clean-up, drywall patch, an small upper balcony deck that needs flooring, etc. Some of this stuff, I can probably do myself.. but slow.

Anyways, just wondering if anyone has some skills here, or knows of anyone honest and reliable. We're looking for decent work, but doesn't need to be super high-end stuff. We are thinking of renting our house sometime very soon, and just prepping it. We are in Los Alamitos/Seal Beach area.

Much thanks..

Are the cabinets made of wood, or particleboard..? If they are wood, then it's possible to refinish them, but a pain, as they need to come off the walls, and striped real good.

Re: the balcony decking, what material is on there now.? If it's a water proof deck, those can be tricky, plus depending on the damage that needs to be repaired. If it's an open wood type deck, that's an easy fix as long as the joist's are o.k. and not enclosed.

Dry wall patch is easy too...

Although I'm retired, I could take a look at it and offer some advice. Getting someone to do all those things "Right" could be a problem, as most handymen are a jack of all trades, but a master of none. Let me know.

Thanks Greg! I'll take a pic of the deck. THe cabinets are cheap particle board, an I realized the "grain" I thought I was looking at is actually in the laminate, which is now peeling. I got that covered. As it turns out, the family who is renting does kitchen cabinets. So we're working out a deal.

The deck is small, and I'll take a pic. It has this weird roofing-type material that is probably waterproof, but well worn. Probably need to be scraped up. The balcony is small, and already graded to a drain. But needs some kind of weatherproof flooring. I think (hope) the joists underneath are ok!

Let me know if you don't find a cabinet guy. My finisher can shoot over there and refinish the cabinets.
