Real inexpensive and Super easy to make and works awesome! It can be made in circular or square.

This was in response to Dano67

Super easy. I will take a pic of the one I have now in a few. Here is the basic break down. You can build these the quick and easy way, or with PVC tubes on the rectangular live wells. All I ask is that after I share this, I hope no one goes and builds these and starts to sell them. I think I want to build 10 of them for the fun get together at SFD if I have time. You can make these without the floating option as well but it makes it harder to put your catch in if it is submerged and you never know if the mesh draw string opens while you are kicking LOL!

Parts: -Laundry Mesh Bag

The laundry mesh bag also comes in a rectangular and more shallow mesh bag.

- Pool Noodles

- Zip Ties
That's it!!

The easiest like seriously you can make one in like 10 minutes is by using the first mesh bag in the photo. Generic mesh bag with a draw string.

All you have to do is choose the diameter of the bag you would like to use. Bend the water noodle to a circle of the interior diameter of the opening for the mesh bag. Cut the water noodle at he mark. Then either puncture the ends of the water noodle and zip tie the 2 ends together or you can use a small portion of a water hose, or any cylinder type piece 2" in length and insert into the hollow center of the 2 ends and use some rubber cement to glue the halves together. All you do now is insert the water noodle into the mesh bag. Make sure the noodle is about 5 inches deep into the mesh bag and zip tie the bag in place. No need to go nuts on the zip ties. Like 3 to 5 around the perimeter spaced out will do. Leaving the 5 inch gap will allow you to use the draw string and close the top of the live well. Get yourself a .99 cent aluminum or plastic climbers quick ring and clip the bag to your D ring on your tube. That's it! Live well made easy! You can make the live well as big as you like and as small as you'd like pending the size of the mesh bag you want to use. The Square bags can be made the same way. They are just larger. The rectangular bags can use some PVC around the top to keep it from folding. However, I can not ever see having to use such a large live well. The mesh bag I use can hold many fish and keep them in perfect condition. The mesh is soft and will not harm the fish at all. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

These mesh bags are available at any Walmart, Kmart, CVS, Walgreens, Target to .99 Cent stores! As are the Zip Ties and Pool Water Noodles!

Here are a few pics of mine.

Great idea. Simplicity at its best. Dano, I do not think spandex is good option for this design.

How did you know my shipping was going to be 29.99 plus a small handleing fee of 45.22. Sounds fair to me.

Laguna have you used that design yet?

Yes I sure have. I fished in a bay tournament a couple of years ago and it works just perfect. Fish stays perfect and they don't trash around or anything. I clip it to my rear D ring so that it is not floating right next to me. I did use culling balls as well and worked out great. Only part I don't like much is when used in the salt water, it's kind of nerve racking to know you have a bunch of fish sitting right next to you in the ocean. LOL!

LC

Oh ya I did use it once more when I tubed for Halibut and had a 25" Halibut in there. That was eventful. LOL

I have made several of these in the past when I use to fish the Plastic Navy bay tournaments years ago.

I would recommend that if any of you deside to make this you use a collapsible mesh hammper that has a wire frame not a laundry bag like the one laguna showed...

This style of bag is a death sentence to spotted bay bass!! It will collapse around the fish while in the water and it will remove the protective slime on the fish.

Just a heads up to everyone!

This is a great idea!!

I think MASSfisher has something like this for bait.

I was thinking it might be good to sew in a stainless steel ring about midway down the length, so the bag sort of hangs down, like a mesh basket, and keeps the inside of the bag open below the cinch closure at the top. Make sense? I thought of this because I remember MASSfisher had a problem with diving birds attacking his bag. He also has the bag away from him on a tether rope, which I also think is a good idea. If you have a problem with the birds, you could take out the pool noodle part, cinch it closed, and now the weight of the steel ring will drop the bag and fish below the water, hopefully away from the birds. I'd be a bit more worried about sea lions, and this might not help with that .. but I'll tackle that adventure another day!

Is this for bait fish? or to keep fish you catch? I guess you can always make two, 1 for each? =)

Nice mod.. -Jay

I'm with Docrunnner on this one. Made mine from the mesh bag and a pool noodle at the top and had some old plastic watering line I formed into 2 rings to insert in the bag to hold it open nice and wide. I zip tied one abot 18 inches accross to the bottom and a larger one at 2 ft. in the middle. The whole thing folds flat like a crab ring set and weighs maybe 6 ozs. Replaced my old wire basket with this setup.
