Many years ago I was at a pond on the golf course my dad worked at. I had a 12 foot long bamboo pole and I tied on a nice length of fishing line, and a hook. I added one night crawler and put the bait out. I then had to wait and wait. I ended up getting a catfish which I had to run up the bank in order to land him. That fish was 15 inches long and I jumped and screamed for joy! I brought that fish home to my mom and I was a really proud fisherman.
I am 53 years old now and I still remember that fish and how I caught him. Smile

Laguna lake Bluegill, I was 5 years old and was the first time fishing with my dad for the first time ever. I remember have no patience like most 5 year old's. But some how my dad, got me to leave the line out long enough on one cast. I watched the bobber disappear under the water and I yelled "fish on" (ok that is not true) but I am sure I as yelling at the time.
To me that was a monster bluegill and we did bring it home, not really sure why, but there are plenty of pictures proving my catch. Looking back at it now at 39 years old it was not that big, but the memory will always be the biggest memory my first time fishing. I like these threads thanks for the question who else has some fishing stories to share.

I do.
I was 5 years old my dad was gone so my uncle Rick took me fishing at
Prado Park in Chino, and it was Trout season and i was using a nice Baitcast rig it was n older model so it had like a spoon style push button. Anyway we had caught a couple already and when i say we i mean my uncle set the hooks and let me real in the last couple yards.
But one time he left to go to the restroom n i got a bite on some powerbait, so i set the hook myself and reeled in all the way n by the time i landed it he came back. N he was psyched cuz i flew solo.
N then he removed the hook cuz i didn't know how.
Awesome times.

Owyhee Lake, Oregon.
The folks took us crappie fishing fairly often there when I was a kid. Don't remember the "first one", but I do remember catching a bunch of them!
