Thanks all!

I just received all my gear and ready for my first voyage.

What is a good spot to try float tubing for the first time? Coming from West LA.

Maybe Puddingstone, Santa Fe Dam, Laguna Niguel, Castaic Lagoon, or MDR - Mother's Beach?

Since you are in the LA region, Puddingstone will not allow float tubing, that I know of. Castaic Lagoon is a good calm area, but very little fish (wader needed). Same goes for Pyramid Lake (which they enforce PFD). Irvine is the closes to you that allow float tubing with wader on. Other than that, Anaheim Lake/Santa Ana River Lakes is good for heavily stocked fish. Keep an eye out for that.

Hit the salt since you're the closest to the Newport Bay. The Marina Del Rey has some good spots to hunt as well. Hit up with the guys to hunt for spotties.

Hey I'm in valley village area and going to start tubing myself. Ive had to slowly buy the gear and now it's waiting for me and now im ready to start tubing. Im planning on going to the castaic lagoon hopefully this Sunday 24th, schedule permitting, for my first time too. They're having a float tube derby April 13th out there I want to join so its time to practice. I'm down to meet up out there. Open Invite for anyone who's interested as well. And welcome to the board!
