Well still lots of ice up here in the far north. My first trip with the tube is usually the second weekend in may, and I doubt 2-3 feet of ice will melt away in 2 weeks. Got some new gear coming. There are a few 30 inch trout with my name on it that will have to wait a few more weeks.

Shoot - don't even have to go all the way north to Alaska if you want to ice fish in May. Come to Wisconsin! We got 14" of snow last week just before the opening of the game fish season. Many lakes in northern WI are still iced over. I'm heading for the Mississippi River this weekend for some dam fishing.

Good grief. You'll be one frozen popsicle on the water. But chilled water will have massive monsters beneath actively searching for food. Tight lines, and report in on your adventures.
