I tried out some new plastic baits recently and they were really good!  A guy at Lake Perris gave me a pack of some sample baits from "Bass Boys Baits" of Middleton, Mich. so I checked them out and ordered some Fat Ika type baits ("Fat Boy") from them.  Great prices, nice custom colors; they made the combination that I wanted- Pumpkin orange/black w/red glitter.  The bait works awesome and got me some nice ones at my local park lake and LP.  I want to try their "Irish Pumpkin" color in Newport Bay.
It's hard to find Fat Ika wannabes, but these guys have them and several other very nice looking baits.

Komori!
There you are, when do you want to hit Perris, it's getting warmer everyday.
Misfit had a question for you about a bluegill at Skinner.

Yeah, it's killing me not to get out there right now.  I just injured my thumb at work, so I can't fish right now.  Hopefully by May I'll be back at it.  Here's a pic of those baits by Bass Boys..  The only negative thing about these baits is I don't think they sink as fast as the original Ikas do.  But I put in a glass rattle, which adds a little weight anyway.  (Hey this is one of my secrets, don't tell anyone..)

To catch a fish on a lure you made by hand has to be a fantastic feeling.

Sorry to hear about your injury Komori. Hope it's not too bad and I won't tell anyone about your rattle weight secret or about the little brass ones either.

I second that dlobo! I wish I made something that catches a fish!
