Around here, a reel is basically just a place to hold your line. A fair drag is nice to have, but not necessary. Now the rod and the Line are the key elements.
But when you can get a reel of this quality for under $100. it is great. This is cheaper than most spools.

Agree with Renegade. I have not found my reel to be limiting me. I drool over them high dollar reels, and someday I am sure I will get one, but I will use what I have now until I feel my gear is holding me back.
