Irvine lake 11/8/2014 Big Sturgeon

Hey whats up fellas, Well this is a bit different from all my video reports. I got to Irvine lake at about 4:30am and boy if it was packed. The bite was tuff all day , For a min there I thought I was going to get the white stripe but I managed to land one after loosing 2 decent trout . Two hours of my morning went into helping my friend out with a sturgeon, She was float tubing close to trout island when suddenly she looks over at me and says, I think Im going to need help Chris. I seen her phenix rod supper bendo and there and then I knew it was going to be a fight. The fight lasted 2 hours. Sad ending but it was an epic fight.

I did not know there were sturgeon in that lake. Heartbreaking for sure, but I bet she wants the video.

Dude that is epic what a great video and some kick ass fighting by your wife. I give props for fighting hard and not giving up. So sorry she lost it but, we could all see she had it, you have to give her credit for a great fight, that is a great story for her to tell for years to come.

That sucks bro but congrats to your friend on the awesome battle. They sure do get big and they are always released too. Hopefully more are caught this year

Awesome video and epic battle! What a trooper she was for not giving up and on 4 lb test vs the BEAST! They should give her a free pass anyways just for the battle and seeing a staff member there to witness the battle. (Free pass to Irvine Lake with photo proof of Nessie). Towards the end of the video when she lost it... I felt like I lost the fish.

Man not able to see the vid from my phone but when I get to the office I will....but man I had the chance to talk to her and she was all sad...felt bad for her big time!

And WTG go chris on the skunkbuster will do this again...soon

Thanks jeffcpr, That sturgeon sure kicked my friends but for a while but like you said I give her props for not giving up on a fight like that on a float tube.

Thanks bro and yes she was sad, she cried for a min and it still brings sadness to her thinking about it, but she has the heart of an Angler. As for the skunkbuster, man! I hit the sierra cove and I lost 2 good ones and back at trout island I landed my skunkbuster, but for sure man we will do this again and my bad for not launching with you guys but my friends needed help that morning.

Awesome Video , that sturgeon has been in there for ever and you see them mention her on a lot of there stocking videos , on the web page and in there rules that she is not to be harmed and that she frequents the shallows strolling lazily by Anglers giving them a glimpse of her . But a Accidental hooking is nothing we can do , would have been nice to catch her and get that shot and get her right back in the water .
