Ever notice how life gets in the way of fishing? That's how it's been for me for the last three weeks. Projects for the granddaughters 4H club and going to NM to help move our 84yr old Aunt. Of course upon returning home I have to catch up everything here. Whew! So yesterday morning I told the wife, "I need to forget the world for a short while, I'm going fishing this evening."

I decided on the Pit Pond as it is so close to home. I really didn't care where I was going, just so long as I was going! I almost didn't go as there were severe thunder storms predicted. But I needed to go fishing.

The Pit Pond was in prime condition. I got on the water and noted that the temperature was 80 degrees. Perfect! I also noticed that the frogs were singing loudly. And there seemed to be more than I ever remembered.

Then it began. I started throwing top water lures at the edges. The strikes were immediate and aggressive! I had never seen them so aggressive before. And the fights were awesome! It was as if they were powered with shark strength!

The tally;
30 online that put up the good fight and got away.

18 Landed!

Countless strikes that missed the hook.

This was in just under three hours. It comes out to a Bass on the hook every three to four minutes!

As predicted the storm rolled in and ran me off the water. If not for the storm I imagine the numbers would have been even more incredible. I am angry at myself for not taking camera gear with me. Lesson learned. But all in all it was an awesome experience!

Top water bonanza! My favorite way to catch the bass.
Thanks for sharing and WTG on getting in the water.

I can't believe that I didn't capture this trip on video. It is one I will remember for some time.

My equipment wasn't charged up and ready due to being on the road. I just said to heck with it and go fishing. Man do I regret that! I won't let that happen again.

Hey Jeff, anyone from FTFF coming thru the area is always welcome. Just let me know, I'll put you up in my RV and take you fishing. Or we can even plan a meet and fish for a few hours.

Not sure what types of Float Tube fishing you've done so far. But stick with it. There are plenty of Tube Fishers on this site that can give you insight on what to try.

Salt water and fresh water are different experiences. So if one doesn't appeal to you try the other.

What motivates me is the pure relaxation I get from Float Tubing. I have a nice Bass Boat that now sits and is rarely used.

You can expand your experience by adding attachments such as rod holders, camera mounts, bait boxes, tackle boxes, coolers and fish finders. Most of us like to make these ourselves. The forum has plans and descriptions posted for how to make them. Or feel free to ask!

I'm glad you like my story. I am looking forward to hearing yours. Oh, and welcome to FTFF, we're always on the fish.
