I'm from Kentucky but I've taken my new tube to the AEP ReCreation Area.  60,000 acres with over 300 ponds. It was on my bucket list to stop and see the Big Muski Bucket so's I could kick the bucket.
(how often do you get to say "bucket" three times in one sentence?) This area is a float tuber's dream. Check out a map of the AEP ReCreation Area for a ton of public access ponds with camping. I love it.

That is my favorite place to fish, if it was closer to me my wife would never see me. tccanoe is correct on the float tubers paradise. It is beautiful, and peaceful down there for sure. Best place to catch big bass in the state of Ohio as far as I have found. I have caught one close to 7 pounds and a few in the 3 and 4 pound area in the few times I have fished those ponds.

Hey folks I don't know if any of the guys here from Ohio area are still active, but was wondering if anyone would like to meet up sometime this year and hit AEP for a day together? I try to go down there as much as possible even though it is an hour and a half drive for me. Just a thought I had, and thought i would post it on here.

Hey - know this is an older post and was not aware of this site. I'm in Central Ohio and fished AEP lands back in the 80's, been tube floating now about 40 years. Decided to do less hunting in the coming years and refocus on more fishing time so a trip back down to AEP and get re-acquainted is on my list this spring and summer.

Am sure a lot has changed so will be scouting the area in later March.

Thanks Jeffcpr - appreciate the site! I don't do social media such as Fakebook, Instasquirt or Twattter so always nice to visit a forum and chat about hunting and fishing stuff. Look forward to reading through some old posts this weekend.

Thanks Jerdon! Fished a ton of quarries and farm ponds over the years but upping my game on those, particularly fickle quarries, to end the fish-less day that can happen on clear water strip pits. Have fished a lot at night to overcome that but needed a more robust approach on daylight bass fishing. Just got the FishtraxC1 for understanding structure, etc. and going way beyond my go-to rubber worm, texas rig approach.

I've always get it simple to throw a tube over my shoulder and hike in but the local waters I can do more and anxious to see the results.

Ya clear water fishing makes it hard, I posted a questions on this to see if we can see what others do in clear water situations. Let' see what comes of it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
