THE OPENER IS UPON US!!!!

The Sierras opener is almost here you guys!
I wanna know what you got planned!
Tips and tricks? Any special lures or flies?

As for myself, This will be the first year I fly fish the Sierras. I'm going to take the flies I tied myself and hopefully get to tie a few more before I go!
Also I will take some lures. A few flatfish lures and as always I will be taking my Thomas Cyclones
In Red/Gold and Blue/Silver.
Those are the killers!

Good for you bro. That's the way it should be.

It's been a few years since I've fished the Sierras, but I used to do ok with the old wet fly on a bobber trick in the Owens River. Black wooly worm. I was using spinning gear, of course, but it's a good change up from the usual kastmaster, mepps, etc.

I'm going up this month or first of June.......doubled up om my favorite spoons......like them for river and creek fishing. I usually have good luck below Laws, driving down along the Owens looking for eddies....... BTW does anyone own a Truck Tent. Going to purchase one for my Colorado, too old to be sleep"n on the ground.........GT

Going up to BridgePort next week for 5 days Going to try out my new tube. I hope they are biting.

Mthaubs may I ask where u r camping/lodging?  I've looked for campsite sites along Robinson Creek.......seems u have to reserve well before opener. Are their any RV/camping sites in Bridgeport? I usually stay at one of the Brown's sites in Bishop or their Owens River site......must have a report on fishing please.........GT

It looks like we are going to stay at Doc and Al's. Small cabins where you cook outside.

Well sorry for the week delay. The temp. in Bridgeport is in the mid 60's The nights are still very cold. The trout are holding across the bay from the public boat launch. The Res. is low due to the anticipated snow melt. The trout are hitting on trolling also 8-12 ft deep. The Twins have ice around two feet thick on the edges. Most of June loop is open. Virginia lakes are under 6 feet of ice. Hermon lake has 3 foot of snow to get to it. Good luck. Make sure waders do not leak. Kens only sells Sims and the start at 250.00. I know, mine leaked. My float tube pole holders were a success. Three trout per morning. All of them were over 2 pounds. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
