If you've never fished Eagle Lake, CA, it's not a real good time to go, right now, because years of drought and ranchers allowing their cattle to graze (and plop) on the dried Lakebed in the north end of the lake. The algae bloom is huge.
Lake is still down (natural lake, not a reservoir) and the tui chub have proliferated to the point they vastly outnumber the trout to the extent they now outnumber the trout in there and the trout can't eat them fast enough.
Not sure what the plan is to remedy the north end and there may not be a plan, there may never be a plan, given what I know about Lassen County politics.

Hoping the lake can turn it around.
