Picked up a Maxxon xpw 240 from a fellow member here on the forum. (Thanks FloatIQ, Mo!). It’s a great boat. It’s a platform style float tube and the true definition of a hybrid. It’s rather big and seems heavy to transport but on the water it’s agile and fast. I’ve had it out a few times and really enjoy it.
I’ve been doing a few mods and I want to share. I came up with an idea to use square pvc furniture tubing as a base / frame. I used stainless screws and fender washers to attach the frame to the tube through the grommets so it could be removed if I ever wanted to strip boat back to “Stock”.

I then used some 6”x12”- 1/2” thick cutting boards as a top that I could screw accessories to. I got some tackle bags from Decathlon (my daughter has a FLTB5 so I grabbed one of her bags as a sample). and screwed them into the pvc frame with stainless screws and fender washers.

Coincidentally, my brother recently (accidentally) broke the base of my strap on battery mount (from FishFinderMounts.com). for my fish finder so disassembled the base and screwed it into the cutting board. Then dropped battery in and reassembled it. Then mounted the Garmin to it with a Ram mount.
Also mounted Scotty Mount rod holder near the fish finder facing forward.

For the transducer I took apart the transom mount (this boat comes with a trolling motor mount) and flipped it upside down and hooked transducer right to it.

The last thing I did and the most expensive was I got a Scotty mount triple rod holder that faces backwards away from my casting zone. There was one mount already on the tube when I got it so just use it for my net. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
So far this thing has been awesome. I’m fine tuning these mods as I fish more and see where everything needs to be. Next is working on a cart or a set of wheels like Jeffcpr uses. I’ll need something that stands upright for where we launch at Alamitos Bay (through a narrow sidewalk). But most other places I have a flat kayak cart that might work but will need to rig up first.
Sorry such a long post. I enjoyed the engineering part of doing these mods and hope to dial them for many comfortable hours on the water.
