I took a trip out to Lake Havasu to do some late winter fishing. Water temps ranged from 52 to 62 degrees (surface) on the middle to Southern part of the lake. The air temps got up to the low to mid 70s each day I was there. Water clarity was clear in areas with 10-15 ft visibility in most areas and slight stain with 4-8 ft visibility in wind blown coves.
I found bass up shallow and on points willing to chase lures. I caught a nice 3lb 5oz smallmouth on a squarebill crankbait. I caught half a dozen more smallmouth over the next 2 days ranging between 2-3 lbs all on moving baits. I caught half a dozen largemouth ranging between 2-6 lbs also on moving baits. The biggest largemouth was up shallow on an underspin.
Last day of fishing I didn't get a single bite. I covered quite a bit of water, and saw numerous cruising bass, but none of them willing to bite. Water levels on the lake dropped at least 2 feet over night and with the temps in the high 50s and low 60s fish were definitely starting to focus on their spawning cycle.
Excellent weather, beautiful sunrises, and a couple great days catching 4-6 fish a day. All the fish I caught were real healthy, biggest smallmouth nearly 3.5lbs and biggest largemouth was 6lbs.
